Fees

Many lawyers, and law firms, are bashful about the subject of fees… We choose not to be.

Most other law firms charge for their work either on a time basis with different hourly rates for different lawyers ranging from partner to paralegal or, in some cases where the work is litigious, on the basis of a scale of costs based on particular items of work for the particular Court in which the litigation is being conducted.

Unlike most law firms, Emanate prefers to enter into costs agreements on the basis of fixed sums for professional fees, either for the whole of the work you retain us to perform, or, if the work is of a type which may conveniently be broken down into a number of major stages, with a fixed sum for each stage.

Emanate will also provide you with an estimate of any additional outlays you will be likely to incur, to enable you to make a fully informed decision in relation to fees.

Our standard fee rates are set to reflect not only our experience and expertise, but also your importance to us as a client and the importance of the legal matters which you entrust to us. Emanate aims to provide an exceptional service. We understand that you expect to pay a reasonable fee, and no more, for that service. We value your patronage, and our reputation.
A major benefit of having a fixed sum for the work is that there is certainty for both sides as to how much the work will cost. In comparison with methods commonly used by most other law firms, this may result in a fee for Emanate’s professional work which is less than another method of charging.

Our experience is that consumers of legal services recognise and appreciate value for money. We believe that if we offer real value to you, the necessity to expend your time and ours in concerns about our fees will be largely eliminated.

Once Emanate’s offer to enter into a fixed sum costs agreement is accepted, both sides will be contractually bound to perform their obligations under the agreement. On Emanate’s side, this means to provide all of the professional legal services required to perform the work that you have retained Emanate to perform. On your side, this means to pay the sum agreed to be paid for that work.

The Legal Profession Act 2007 obliges us to provide you with a Disclosure Notice which sets out the terms of our retainer and our basis of fee charging.
